China to control drug-taking by entertainers
来源:英语学习网
Chinanews, Beijing, June 1 - Xie Dong, a famous singer in China, was arrested on May 26 for keeping and taking several different drugs.

Police found ice drugs and ecstasies in Xie's apartment in Shijingshan District in Beijing. Doctors also confirmed that Xie took ice drugs, ketamine and ecstasies after urine check. Xie confessed that he had been taking drugs for more than 2 years. On May 27, Xie was sentenced to a 10-day detention.

"It is a common secret that some Chinese entertainers take drugs. Xie's case shows local police's determination in controlling drug-taking, especially among entertainers," said Shi Jianchun, deputy director of Beijing Drug-control Educational Base. Xie's arrest should be a warning to entertainers who still take drugs," added Shi.

Shi believes that entertainers are more prone to fall victim to soft drugs, and suggests there should be special lessons to help them understand the harm of soft drugs like ice drugs and ecstasies.

Besides, entertainers are usually considered as role models in the society, especially to young people, thus it is necessary to control their delinquent conducts.

"Personally, I wish entertainers would make the most of their influence upon the general public to tell them the harm of drugs," concluded Shi.
