Chinanews, Chongqing, Jun.1 – According to Chongqing Evening News, Liu Zhengyi, an ordinary elderly woman from Chongqing, often demonstrates her ability of reciting pi to 5,000 decimal places.

Liu is a retired accountant. She became audience of Chongqing Craftsmanship Contest and thought she could also demonstrate her own stunt. She told the contest organizers she wanted to challenge the recitation of pi.

In 2002, Liu learned from the press that one could easily suffer from brain atrophy without exercising and reciting. As a result, she participated in a training course for reciting pi. After 4 days of learning, she could recite pi to 200 decimal places. Feeling very much encouraged, she kept on until she could recite pi to 5,000 decimal places in 2004.

“Everyone can do this if one keeps at it,” she said.
