| Students learn sex knowledge through chatting |

Chinanews, Chongqing, May 12 – Nearly 30% of college students have had sex experience before they marry. 60% of them learn sex knowledge through chatting and half of the students are not satisfied with the sex education offered by their colleges.
The conclusion was given in a recent report after three students from the Chongqing Medical College completed a four-month survey on college students sex knowledge and sex behaviors. They released the report on Wednesday.
In order to make this report, the students issued a questionnaire to 720 college students in Chongqing. The questionnaire contained 36 sensitive questions aimed to get as much information as possible about college students situation about sex. This is the first time that such a survey was done in the city.
The average age of the 720 college students was 20.9. Among them, 28.3% had sexual experience. The rate doubled compared with a similar survey in 2003.
The survey shows that 25.8% of the students did not take any safety measures when they first experienced sex. 10% of the students had the experience of taking an induced abortion. The survey also shows that most students had their first sexual experience during the first year of their college life. 60.9% of the students said they could accept premarital sex.
Most (61.2%) students in the survey said they learned sex knowledge through chatting with classmates, films, novels, online information or other channels. Students learned least from their colleges and parents about sex.
When asked whether students are satisfied with sex education offered by their schools, 50% say “no.” According to these students, they can not discuss the issue thoroughly at college. Sometimes, teachers are unwilling to discuss such topics with students.
